Ragging Curb Committee is formed with the aim to:
- Monitor any conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating, handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in disruptive activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.
- Ensure non-violent activities of word, act or any kind.
- Impose strict regulations and take actions against those indulging in ragging by instantly removing them from the roll and further actions if any required as per Government order.
- Create awareness for the First-year students regarding the Anti-Ragging Committee functioning, details of Punishment, during the orientation program and assembly.
In pursuance to the Judgment of the Supreme Court order, the UGC notified “Regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions”. Following the orders of UGC, the on line Anti Ragging undertaking/affidavit forms are filled in by students and parents/guardians in the website.

Punishments at the Institution Level
Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging at the institution level shall be any one or any combination of the following:
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
- Withholding / withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits.
- Debarring from appearing in any test / examination or other evaluation process.
- Withholding results.
- Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
- Suspension / expulsion from the hostel.
- Cancellation of admission.
- Rustication from the institution for period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters.
- Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specific period.
- Fine ranging between Rupees 25,000/- and Rupees 1 lakh.
- Collective punishment: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
Steps Taken to Curb Ragging
- Ragging Complaint box is kept in the prominent place in the college.
- In the orientation programme conducted for the first years in the beginning of the academic year, the students were instructed about the steps taken by the institution to curb ragging.
- In the class committee meetings held twice in a semester the first year students were provided with an opportunity to voice out their opinion about ‘ragging menace’ in the campus.
- During ward meetings, conducted periodically, the Tutors enquire the students about ragging
- Head of all the departments were instructed to keep a strict vigil to curb ragging.
- Hostel wardens were asked to carry on periodic supervision to check ragging at the hostel premises.
